Transcript:How to Do Crow Pose
Hi, I'm Joelle a yoga teacher and blogger at Yoga Nation. We are here at Go Yoga in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, for About.com. Today I'm going to show you how to perform crow pose - bakasana.Crow Pose Positioning
Come into a squat with your feet together and your knees apart. Let your arms and your torso come down between your thighs until the upper arms are on the inside of the thighs. Lift your gaze and stretch the throat forward. Keep the head lifted as you begin to shift your weight forward onto your hands. The lifted head acts as a counter weight to the lifted hips and will allow you to balance.Lift Into Crow Pose
Finally, lift one foot and then the other up towards the belly. Round your back strongly - as if you were doing cat pose - and move the belly button in towards the spine. This strong abdominal contraction will help lift you up and fly into the pose. Be sure to press into your entire hand so take pressure off your wrists. And keep the head lifted as you hold and breathe for 3 - 5 breaths, strengthening the arms and toning the belly. Thanks for watching. To learn more, visit us on the Web at About.com.
