Hello, this is Adam Watstein for About.com.
Steps for Inserting a Text Box in Microsoft Word
Here's how to insert a text box into Microsoft Word 2010. First, head over to the Insert tab. From there, you'll find the Text Box tab. Select it, and from there, you'll find a number of built-in presets that you could choose from. Select the one of your choice, and the text box will appear on your document.
More Instructions for Inserting a Text Box
You can start typing whatever you like and know that you can customize the text and you can customize the box to meet the needs of your document. I can, by highlighting the text, I can then go up into my Home tab and then over to my fonts and select the font of my choice, I can then head over to the size and change the size of the font, and I can also bold it, give it color -- whatever I want to do to enhance the look of this text box.
If I want to change the nature of the box itself, change its color, I head over to Format, down over to Shape Styles – by clicking on the drop-down arrow, I can hover over different colors, and give my box a new color.
That's how we create text boxes in Microsoft Word 2010. For more information, please visit About.com.
