Transcript:How to Remove Formatting in Microsoft Word 2010Hello David Dietrich here with About.com. In this video we are going to look at how to clear formatting with the ease of just a few clicks.
Steps for Removing Formatting in Microsoft Word 2010Here I have a document with all sorts of formatting. I have my text in different fonts, colors, and styles. The line spacing has been adjusted, word art has been used and the paragraphs themselves are formatted with different styles. We could go in and change these things one by one but that would take a long time. The easier thing to do is use the clear formatting button. If we navigate to the home tab, and under the font menu we will find the clear formatting button. This button will clear the formatting of whatever you currently have selected.
Example for How to Remove Formatting in Microsoft Word 2010For instance if we select the entire document by holding down ctrl and pressing the "A" button, then click the clear formatting button. The entire document is set to the default styling. If we select only a single line of text it will only set that line back to defaults. This is very useful when you are pasting things into your document from another document or website as there are often formatting differences that you may not want to keep. I hope that you found this quick tip helpful.
