Transcript:How to Change the Margins in Microsoft Word 2010

Hi, I'm Shane Murphy, your technology Guru for About.com. Today we'll show how to change the margins in Word 2010.

Easy Way to Change the Margins in Microsoft Word 2010

The easiest way to adjust your margins is to click and drag the dividing lines between the blue shadings on the ruler. As a default, this mark will be "hidden" behind the indentation arrows, so you'll have to move them first. You can more finely customize your margin's parameters by selecting the page layout tab and clicking the margins button. You'll be shown a list of standard margins variations here. Click custom margins at the bottom to create your own. Here you can set whatever value you'd like for the margins on each side of the document.

Additional Information About Changing the Margins in Microsoft Word 2010

You can make more radical changes too, like rotating the orientation to landscape or configure word to adjust the margins in anticipation of different ways to combine multiple pages, like book formatting. If you want to make this new configuration your default setting, simply click default at the bottom and select yes.
