Transcript:How to Do a Long Layered Stacked Bob

Hi I'm Andrea Cameron and today I'm going to show you how to create a long layered stacked bob.

How to Start a Long Layered Stacked Bob Cut

To get started you will need the following: clips, a comb, scissors, styling product,a large round brush and a blowdryer

First, you'll want to part the hair in the nape about 2 inches above the hairline. Start in the center and cut the length about a half inch below the hairline. Continue cutting the rest of the nape making it even with the center.

Drop down another section in the nape. Take a vertical subsection in the center and hold it out at a 45 degree angle making sure you start low, near the base of the hairline in order to minimize the amount of layers you will create.

Bring down the rest of the hair up to the crown, taking more vertical partings.  Continue to follow the same angle from the previous section.

How to Cut the Sides for a Long Layered Stacked Bob

Now it's time to cut the sides. Clip the hair 1 inch above each ear. Start cutting from  the edge of the nape section to the desired length towards the face. Most people prefer it to be longer in the front, but this choice is up to you. Once you've done both sides, take the front-most pieces from each side and pull them towards the chin to make sure they're even.

Bring down another section on each side and cut only the length. Drop the rest of the hair down and find the client's natural part. This is important because it will insure the side layers will match up.  On each side take vertical partings from the top of the head to an inch above the ear. If you take all the hair to the ear it may leave a hole in your cut's outline.

Bring those vertical partings toward the back section of the head to blend it in. You may want to bring the angle out at the sides slightly so not to have too much weight on the sides, keep in mind that you want the layers to remain long.

How to Style a Long Layered Stacke Bob

Apply a styling cream to the damp hair and clip the hair halfway up the nape. Take a large round brush and a blowdryer and start drying the hair under. Avoid too much volume at the base of the nape. Blow dry all the hair under, section by section, keeping it as smooth as possible.
