During submental or chin liposuction, small incisions, approximately ¼ inch long, are made under the chin and a hollow tube called a cannula is inserted into the fatty tissue.The liposuction cannula is connected to a vacuum unit and a doctor will move the cannula under the skin while the vacuum suctions away excess fat from the chin and neck.
