Hi, I'm Monica MacKerron for About.com. In this video, we're going to give you tips on how to plan your wedding ceremony.
Information on Planning a Wedding Ceremony
Planning your wedding ceremony is one of the most exciting events in your life, but it can also be overwhelming at times. To help you, we have five main things that we'll discuss to help you plan your wedding ceremony. We'll talk about: establishing a budget, determining who will marry you, where you are going to get married, when you are going to get married, and wedding attire.
Instructions for Planning a Wedding Ceremony
First, you must determine your budget. There are many expenses that can go into a wedding such as purchasing wedding rings, flowers, photographers, the bride's dress and the groom's tuxedo. Do some research and make a list of everything that you want at your wedding along with the cost associated with it.
Next, determine how much you want to spend on the wedding and make changes to your list depending on if you are over or under the amount that you want to spend.
The next thing to do is to determine who will marry you. It's important to consider this first because many religious officiants will only marry people in their building of worship. When meeting with possible officiants, find out their costs and if they require any pre-marital classes.
Selecting a location and determining the date can go hand in hand. If you really have your heart set on a particular venue, you might need to be flexible on the date and time. If you're on a tight budget considerable discounts can be offered by getting married on a day other than Saturday, which is the most popular day for weddings and other events.
Finally, determine what you are going to wear. For the bride, there are many, many dress options. It's in your best interest to start your search for a dress sooner rather than later so that there is time to get the dress ordered and altered if needed. For the groom, there are many options as well from a formal tuxedo with tails to a nice sport coat and tie. The groom has a little more flexibility when it comes to when you should order the tuxedo if you go in that direction, but it is still recommended to get fitted at least two months in advance.
