Hi, I'm Nick and today for About.com, I'm going to show you how to import and export your data using Blogger.
Protecting Your Blog
Being able to keep a hard copy of your blog can spare you a lot of misery should the worst happen and all of your data gets wiped. On the flip side, you might want to transfer your data over to a new blog, importing all of your data across in one quick and simple step. Whatever the reason, Blogger makes importing and exporting data easy.
To find to importing and exporting options, open the menu in Blogger's dashboard and choose the 'Settings' option. From here, choose the 'Other' option and you'll find the import and export options in the Blog Tools section.
To export your blog, click the 'Export blog' option and a new window will open, prompting you to download your blog to your computer. Your blog will be saved as an .xml file – make sure not to alter this at any point.
To import your blog, head back to the Blog Tools section and click 'Import blog'. A new window will open, prompting you to select the file you wish you import. This also needs to be an .xml file, so make sure you have the file of the blog you want to import on your computer. Before you import, you may need to enter a code to verify your request. These can sometimes be hard to read, to be sure to click the cycle button if you need a new code. Once ready, click the 'Import Blog' option and you'll immediately be taken to your blog posts, showing you exactly what's been imported.
It's also worth noting that you can import and export your blog's theme as well. From the dashboard, click the menu and select the 'Template' option. From here, head to the 'Backup / Restore' option, located at the top right of the screen. Now you'll be able to download or upload saved templates to overwrite the one you currently use. Remember, these will also have to be .xml files!
