Transcript:What to Expect From the Most Expensive Web Design Software

Hi, this is Dimitri LaBarge for About.com, and today we're going to talk about what to expect from the most expensive web design software.

Investing in Web Design Software

If you're going to make an investment in high-end and expensive web design software, you want to make sure it's as capable as it can be. You can expect certain things across the board: good debugging tools, easy site publishing, color-coding and HTML validation, templates, and even team collaboration. But let's talk about a few specific options.

Adobe Suite

One thing you might want to consider if you're spending a lot of money is to buy a suite of compatible and interconnected applications. Adobe is a good choice for this. Though they can be the most expensive option on the table, you'll get a lot for that money. First, you would start with Dreamweaver, which is one of the most capable web editors on the market. And then you would add tools like Photoshop, Flash and Premiere, which would bring strong graphic and multimedia elements to your web pages.

Expression Studio

If you're somewhat more business-oriented or interested in Microsoft architectures, you might look at Expression Studio 4 Ultimate. Like Adobe, it comes with sophisticated design and multimedia tools like Silverlight Development. But it's also geared for programming with sophisticated tools like Visual Studio and .NET. Uniquely, Expression also has excellent prototyping tools to help build the structure of your site.

NetObjects Fusion XII

Another interesting option is NetObjects Fusion XII. For your money, you get many of the powerful web editing options we've talked about. But Fusion adds tools such as integrated search engine optimization using Google Analytics, a library of royalty free images, and easy e-commerce options. And if you're spending the money anyway, consider some traditional print publishing options like Quark XPress, which integrate WYSIWG publishing for the web as well as print media.
