Stunts in Grand Theft Auto IV
Completing a unique stunt simply involves finding the usually conspicuous ramps and hitting them at the right speed. They are scattered throughout all of Liberty City, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled.Successfully nailing stunts during a police chase is definitely more difficult, but can lead to hilarious, Blues Brothers-esque results.
Completing all 50 stunts will net you the Dare Devil Trophy. This is necessary for getting a 100% completion rating in the game.
Better yet, there are plenty of opportunities for impromptu stunts. For best results, a motorcycle is recommended, specifically the NRG 900. It and the other fast motorcycles are ideal for their maneuverability and fast acceleration. They also allow you to take advantage of bumps, or ridges like curbs for stunt purposes. Plenty of different pieces of the environment will work, so experiment frequently as you explore Liberty City.
For low bumps, like curbs, you'll need to lean back on the motorcycle right before you hit it. You want the bottom of your front tire to hit the bump, producing the maximum amount of hang time. Remember that leaning back slows Niko down, so you'll want to pull back on the left stick right before you hit the bump.
For high bumps, you'll want to do the same thing, but lean back even more to create a steeper angle. Also keep in mind that you can control Niko's angle and the direction he's facing as he flies through the air. This is critical for landing your jump.
Spawning the helicopter using cheat codes opens up a number of fun stunt opportunities as well.
Use your chopper to ascend any skyscraper, then cautiously bail out at the right point over the roof. Once you're situated, spawn your vehicle of choice using a code and the rest is obvious.
There are great stunts you can challenge yourself with that involve using Niko's realistic trajectory after bailing out of a chopper. For instance, try landing in a small body of water after flying at full speed.
If you've got malicious intent for your protagonist, you can try angling the helicopter so that Niko will get hit with the helicopter blades after jumping out. The result is a pretty ridiculous flight path.
Or fly over to the airport and try landing your helicopter on one of the plane's wings.
Keep these ideas in mind and you'll effortlessly pull off your own flashy stunts in GTA IV. Thanks for watching. To learn more, visit About.com!
