Hi, I'm Nick, and today for About.com, I'm going to teach you some cheats for The Sims 3 on PC and Mac.
How to Enter Codes in The Sims 3
The Sims is a highly popular life-simulation game that sees the player customize a character and the world they live in. The Sims 3 offers a greater sense of choice and detail than its predecessors, with a number of different age-groups, personalities and accessories available to select from. To enter a cheat in Sims 3, all you need to do is hold down Ctrl + Shift + C (Command + Shift + C on a Mac) to enter the console and enter a code. Type the code 'help' into the blue bar at the top of the screen to get a list of available cheat options. Let's see how this looks in action.
The Sims 3 Cheat Codes for Currency
If you want to give your sim a cash boost, open the console and enter the code 'kaching' to instantly receive 1000 currency. To receive 50,000 simoleans, type in 'motherlode.' You can give a significant sum of money to any sim in the game by entering the code 'familyfunds.'
Shift and Click Cheat Codes
To enter debug mode, enter the code 'testingcheatsenabled true.' This allows you to Shift + click an item to reveal further options. Shift + click your workplace, for example, to force additional opportunities to appear. If you Shift + click your mailbox, you reveal options such as career changes and promotions, social influences and even the ability to alter your sim's mood. Shift + clicking on your sim will allow you to alter details such as their personality, appearance and preferences. Finally, if you shift-click on the ground, you can instantly teleport your sim to a new location – perfect for the impatient sims!
Other Sims 3 Cheat Codes
Back in the console, enter the code 'slowmotionviz' to change the speed of your sim's actions. 8 is the slowest setting, while 0 is normal. If you want to view the map without the icons, enter the code 'map tags off' to make them disappear. Don't forget, you can turn them on again by typing, 'map tags on.' Feeling fatigued from all that creativity? Have the console tell you some jokes by typing the code, 'jokeplease.' Keep entering the code for new jokes! Finally, one of the most mysterious cheats is the 'enablellamas on' code. Nobody knows for sure what it does – can you figure it out?
