Transcript: Vegetable Cream Cheese

Hi, I'm Gretchen Siegchrist for About.com Food, and I am going to show you how to make veggie cream cheese.

Fresh Vegetable Cream Cheese

I prefer homemade veggie cream cheese to the kind that you buy in the store because it has a fresher taste and a crunchier texture.

Vegetable Cream Cheese Ingredients

For this recipe, you will need:
  • 1 8 ounce package of cream cheese
  • 1 small carrot
  • 2 radishes
  • 4 scallions
  • 2 or 3 dashes of Tabasco sauce

Soften the Cream Cheese

Remove the cream cheese from the refrigerator ahead of time so that it will soften. This makes it easier to mix in the veggies.

Prepare the Vegetables

Chop the vegetables into very small pieces and then mix them into the cream cheese. Add the Tabasco sauce. You can use a little bit more if you like spicy flavors, and then mix it in.

Refrigerate the Vegetable Cream Cheese

Transfer the veggie cream cheese to a covered container and place it in the refrigerator overnight. This will allow the flavors to blend together. Then you can take it out the next day and spread it on a bagel or serve it with crackers. Enjoy.
