Hi! I'm Rachel Edelman for About.com Food. Today I'm going to show you how to cook maple glazed carrots.

Maple Glazed Carrots Ingredients

For this recipe, you will need:
  • 1 16-oz baby carrots (about 3 1/2 cups)
  • 1 tbsp canola oil
  • 2 tsp pure maple syrup
  • salt and pepper
  • pinch of nutmeg and cinnamon

Steam the Carrots

Bring an inch of water to boil in a small pot. Insert a steamer and pour in the carrots. Put the cover back on and steam the carrots for about 7-10 minutes. Test for tenderness by poking one of the carrots with a fork. If it goes through easily, they are done.

Coat the Maple Glazed Carrots

When the carrots are almost finished, pour the oil and maple syrup into a pan. Then, pick up the steamer and pour the carrots into the pan with the oil and syrup.

Season the Maple Glazed Carrots

Saute the carrots over medium-high heat with the mixture for a couple of minutes. Then, pour the carrots onto your serving plate and season with the salt, pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon. Toss the carrots so all of them are covered with the spices. Serve and enjoy.
