Transcript:Baking Powder BiscuitsHi, I am Gretchen Siegchrist for About.com Food, and I am going to show you how to make baking powder biscuits.
Ingredients for Baking Powder BiscuitsFor this recipe, you'll need:
- 2 cups flour
- 1/4 cup vegetable shortening
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 cup milk
Combine the Biscuit IngredientsBegin by preheating the oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, combine the flour, shortening, baking powder, and salt. Stir these together until they are well mixed.
Now, we will add enough milk until we have a soft batter. About one cup should do.
Cut Out the BiscuitsSprinkle your rolling surface with flour, and also coat your rolling pin. Roll out the dough until it is about half an inch thick, then cut out the biscuits.
Bake the BiscuitsTransfer the biscuits to a greased cookie sheet, and bake them until they begin to turn brown.
