Hi, I'm Don Schechter for About.com Computing. Today I'll show you how to put a password on your Microsoft Excel files.Open an Excel File to Password Protect
- Open Excel
- CLICK 'File,' 'Open,' and open a file
- CLICK 'File, 'Save As'
- CLICK 'Tools' at the top right of the 'Save As' dialog box
Create a Password to Protect the File
- CLICK 'General Options'
- TYPE your password for opening the file and/or modifying it
- CLICK 'OK'
- RETYPE password at the prompt
