Michael Rady– 'Jonah' in Melrose Place
Tell me about Melrose Place. Is it juicy and gossipy and chatty?
Michael Rady: "It's juicy, chatty, it's scandalous. It's sexy. It's sexy. It's sexy. It's sexy."
Is there any sexiness to it?
Michael Rady: "I'd almost say it verges on sexy, for lack of a better word. There's drama – and then sex and scandal."
Who are you playing?
Michael Rady: "I play Jonah Miller. He's a young filmmaker, transplant from the East Coast to LA, new to this whole world and just trying to live the dream. You're just going to watch him encounter all of these crazy scenarios and roadblocks that a young professional in this crazy town does."
Was it easy to figure that out?
Michael Rady: "Yes. It was like, 'I've done this before. I feel this one.'"
What's the appeal of Melrose Place for you?
Michael Rady: "Paycheck."
[At this point a random woman calls out something and interrupts the interviews…]
Michael Rady: "What were we talking about?"
Why did you want to do Melrose?
Michael Rady: "Obviously my bar's very low. If I'm working, I'm happy. But the cream on top of all of this…"
I can't believe you just admitted that.
Michael Rady: "The cherry on top is that this is the coolest cast and crew to work with. We are having so much fun, and the material is so much fun. Todd [Slavkin] and Darren [Star] did a great job just making it dirty and gritty and fun and dark. I can't go to sleep every night, I'm so excited to go to work the next morning. I am having so much fun."
Do they make you stay extra in makeup then to cover up the bags and dark eyes?
Michael Rady: "Yeah, that's my first stop. They're actually going to move a makeup artist to my apartment so I can just go there all the time, because lots of bags, lots of working. They're keeping us very busy these days, and I love it."
