Leslie David Baker and Phyllis Smith – The Office

Huge The Office freak – it's one of my favorite shows. What can we expect this year?

Leslie David Baker: "Well, you already saw Thursday night what happened. I have issues. I'm cheating and tearing up cards. I'm having a mid-life man crisis. I don't know."

Are you happy with that storyline?

Leslie David Baker: "I am, because it was so much fun to do. And it was unexpected and unpredictable. It surprised me and it surprised the other cast members. It was fun to do."

That's always nice because it keeps it fresh.

Leslie David Baker: "You get to stretch your acting chops."

You guys actually stick to the script more than we assume you do, right?

Phyllis Smith: "Well usually we lay the script out. It depends on director and his style of directing, but they would like for us to lay it down as written and then they say, 'Okay, play with it.'"

Leslie David Baker: "And then it goes places you never dreamed of. So definitely you want to buy the new DVD that we've got out, Season 5, you get some extra little nuggets that you'll go, 'Ohhh…'"

Do these storylines still surprise you after all these years?

Leslie David Baker: "Absolutely because we don't find out what the new storyline is usually until the week of the table read. So we walk in and you read it and go, 'Oh my gosh, is that what I'm doing? Is that what you're doing?'"

Phyllis Smith: "'Okay, all right. We like that writers. Keep it going.'"

Leslie David Baker: "Rock and roll, it's fun."

Do you know what I really love about it is it's such an ensemble piece. It isn't one star. That must be refreshing to get on a series like that.

Leslie David Baker: "It is."

Phyllis Smith: "This whole thing is just an unexpected blessing. The fact that we have 16, 17 people and we get to go to work every day."

Leslie David Baker: "It just jells so beautifully that it's amazing. You don't find that that often in this day and age on TV."

We know exactly who each one of you are.

Leslie David Baker: "Greg Daniels has encouraged us to allow the characters to develop their own personality and idiosyncrasies and quirks. Phyllis knits, I do crossword puzzles. All of that stuff he allowed us to incorporate that into our characters, and it really makes for interesting viewing."

Creed Bratton – The Office

I haven't seen the premiere yet of this season…

Creed Bratton: "Oh, I'm hysterical."

So don't give anything away. But, how is this season going to top every other season?

Creed Bratton: "We're not going to jump the shark. We've got legs still going. A little shaky, but we're still fighting the good fight. Damn 30 Rock, kicking our collective butts. We want revenge. No, they're funny. They really are. We want revenge. No, we don't care. We're all thinking about movies."
