Alyssa Milano - Romantically Challenged
I hear you have a new show coming up.Alyssa Milano: "I do."
I want to hear all about it.
Alyssa Milano: "Okay. It's called Romantically Challenged and we premiere April 12th on ABC, right after Dancing with the Stars. It's about a group of friends that are romantically challenged and how they help each other sort of navigate through the waters of being a single person. And really how they're all really functionally with each other and then really dysfunctional outside the group, which I think we can all relate to."
Could you relate to it?
Alyssa Milano: "Absolutely. I mean, my best friend – his name is Alah [I'm not sure of the spelling] - and in my early 20s I literally would look at him and be like, 'I'm never going to find a man that can love me the way you love me.' And that's a lot of what Romantically Challenged is about is that sort of closeness between friends and dysfunction everywhere else."
We need more of that on TV, don't you think?
Alyssa Milano: "I think any time you can create a show about a topic that everyone can relate to and have likeable characters – I like watching those shows."
It kind of sounds like Friends to me in a way. Is it that kind of vibe?
Alyssa Milano: "A little edgier than Friends. Ricky Blitt is our creator. He worked on Family Guy for years and years and years, so he pushes the envelope. I would say it's like a Friends for the Twitter generation."
Who else is in it with you?
Alyssa Milano: "Josh Lawson, Kyle Bornheimer, and Kelly Stables."
Were you guys friends before this at all, or did you have to bond on the set?
Alyssa Milano: "No, but we became quick, quick, quick friends, yeah, and we did it over Beatles Rock Band at my house."
Are you good at that?
Alyssa Milano: "I'm all right. I'm a drummer. I'm Ringo."
