Hi! This is Meghan Lynn Allen for, and today we'll discuss places to visit in New York City with kids.

Kid-Friendly Places in NYC

If the weather's nice, why not try starting with the great outdoors? Central Park has lots of things for kids to do and look at, and most of them are entirely free. There's the Wollman skating rink, the Central Park Zoo, the Loeb Boathouse, and the Carousel. Keeping in track with that outdoors theme, think zoos, aquariums and gardens. There's plenty to do in all five boroughs of New York.

Indoor Places to Visit in NYC With Kids

If the weather's not cooperating, think about indoor playspaces. There's one called Kidville, and you can find it at They have parties, events and classes, and all kinds of activities to keep your kid busy. Washington Heights boasts Wiggles & Giggles Playhouse. They also have plenty of activities for kids on a rainy or snowy day.

Museums for Kids in NYC

You might think that museums and kids don't mix, but that's not true in New York City. The Brooklyn Children's Museum has plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces, and all kinds of rooms and activities for kids to explore in the museum.

Next, think about taking your children to see live theater. There is so much to see in New York from plays to musicals, a lot of which is family friendly. There's something called kids night on Broadway, where kids go for free when a parent or adult pays full price.

And don't forget the tourist attractions that everyone loves, kids and adults alike, like Times Square. Take some photos, and it's completely free. Or spend a few dollars and go to the Statue of Liberty, and perhaps climb into the top and take some panoramic pictures. You can also get some great photos atop the Empire State Building.

And if your children are on the younger side, why not hit one of the most popular and famous toy stores in New York City, F.A.O. Schwarz. You'll be amazed by the sights and scenes that come to life - the toy clock, the toy soldiers and the huge selection of toys.
