Transcript:Best Restaurants at Disneyland
Hi, I'm Arthur Levine, the Theme Parks Guide at About.com. It should come as no surprise that I love theme parks. But I also love great food. That's why I'm happy to share with you the top 5 best restaurants at the Disneyland Resort. I'm joined today by Andrew Sutton, the executive chef at Napa Rose and the Carthay Circle Restaurant, here at Disney California Adventure.
Carthay Circle Is a Good Restaurant at Disneyland
Now Andrew, maybe you can tell us a little bit about how food options have evolved at the resort, particularly over the last few years. Well I tell you what, I think like many things, we've really evolved as a society and really enjoy food and the taste and that sort of thing. It really becomes part of the entertainment package. Maybe you can tell us a little bit about the restaurant. So downstairs is almost where the animators might eat, where it's just little tapas. We've got beer and wine and crafted cocktails along with all kinds of neat stuff for kids. But it's, you know, sushi rolls, lobster pad thai rolls -- fun, fresh, light little tastes where you can just get a little pick me up.
Upstairs at the Carthay Circle Restaurant at Disneyland
Upstairs you have a different concept. Different concept, it's more formal upstairs. We want to sit you down, it's Southern California feel. So it's light and fresh, we want to energize you. It's really built for that. Things like short raviolis, where it's got some heartiness and a little bit of some delicateness. We have a ceviche which is really fun and in fact, I do a little table-side service with the tomatillo sauce that goes on the side. Made with fresh halibut, plantain chips, you know it's one of these playgrounds where people can really enjoy food and freshness and healthiness. And it's something that you wouldn't expect in a theme park, much like we've talked about. It's really quite fun. Great! Well let's see what other restaurants made the top 5 list.
Jazz Kitchen Is a Good Restaurant at Disneyland
There are a number of great places to dine at Downtown Disney, including Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen. The New Orleans-inspired eatery offers regional fare such as gumbo, crawfish, overstuffed po-boy sandwiches, and heavenly deep-fried beignets. Live jazz is frequently performed at the restaurant. You could get a take-out taste of the Big Easy at the adjacent Jazz Kitchen Express.
Steakhouse 55 Is a Good Restaurant at Disneyland
For a fine dining experience with a unique atmosphere, consider Steakhouse 55 inside the Disneyland Hotel. The steaks and chops are exquisite, but what really sets the restaurant apart is its old Hollywood ambiance, including wonderful vintage photos of Walt Disney posing with movie stars. Here's a tip: Head to Steakhouse 55 in the morning, and you'll be able to start your day with a delicious, traditional breakfast in an unhurried setting.
Blue Bayou Is a Good Restaurant at Disneyland
When it comes to distinctive settings, it doesn't get more unique than the Blue Bayou, located alongside the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at Disneyland. The ride's boats gently pass by as patrons dine on Creole- and Cajun-style dishes such as its famous Monte Cristo, a hearty fried concoction filled with meats and cheeses.
Napa Rose Is a Good Restaurant at Disneyland
Disney's Grand Californian Hotel is where you will find Napa Rose and its creative, inspired dishes, attentive service, and California-centric wine list. Local, seasonal ingredients are featured, so the menu is always changing. Whether it's for special occasions or simply to enjoy an indulgent meal while at the resort, Napa Rose won't disappoint.
Indulge yourself by dining at one of Disneyland's best restaurants on your next visit. Be sure to make reservations well in advance. Learn more about the Disneyland's best table-service and quick-service restaurants, as well as its desserts and snacks at About.com's Theme Parks site.
