Different Types of Religious Tattoos
Many of the earliest and most popular tattoos were religious symbols. Many people decide to get religious tattoos to symbolize their devotion to their religion. Any religious symbol can become tattoo art. So people use human figures, such as Jesus and Mary; some people decide to go with symbols, such as crosses and the Star of David. Religious tattoos can be derived from any religion, the most popular being Christianity, Judiasm, Buddhism and Hinduism.
Popular Christian Tattoos
The most popular Christian tattoos are crosses. Crosses are easily incorporated into many other tattoo themes. Saints are also very popular and they can appear in traditional form, as well as modern form. Saints represent "having someone looking over you" and protection. Other popular Christian tattoos are angels, praying hands and doves that symbolize peace. Many Christian tattoos symbolize love ones that have been lost.
Tattoos Representing Other Religions
Although tattoos themselves are considered unacceptable in the Jewish faith, some do get them. The most popular Jewish tattoo symbol is the star of David, which symbolize interaction between the Divine and the mortal. The Star of David is represented by a hexagon. Buddhist symbols can also make great tattoos. The Buddha Eyes mean wisdom and are popular in tattoo art. The lotus flower is also associated with Buddhism, as is the Buddha itself. Symbols are very prevalent in the Hindu religion. The most important symbol is Om, representing the absolute – the source of all existence. The pentagram is also a popular tattoo and is the symbol of alternate religions, such as paganism. If you follow these tips, you'll be able to find the right will work for you.
