Transcript:Turn Your Bathroom Into a Spa ExperienceHi, I'm Jen D'Amore for About.com and this video is all about turning your bathroom into a spa experience. Every bathroom has spa potential, especially when you dim the lights, and a few extras can turn an ordinary bath into what feels like an expensive spa experience.
Start with a Clean BathtubFirst some preparation. This should go without saying, but make sure you're starting with a clean bathtub, if it's not clean start scrubbing.
Prepare Warm Towels and Hot TeaThrow some soft towels into the dryer for a few minutes to warm them up, then keep them near the tub so they're easy to grab after your bath.
Make yourself a hot cup of tea to enjoy while you're in the tub.
Set Up Music and CandlesSet up some music, while your hands are still dry, that will play or repeat long enough to last your spa experience so you won't be tempted to touch it when your hands are wet.
Next, set up a safe area for candles. If you have a shower curtain, you can move it to the opposite side, tie it up, or just take it down for your bath.
Add Something Special to the WaterRun your bath, and into the water you have many choices...bubble bath…oils…salts…pick your favorite, and try something different each time.
Fresh Flowers Make a Big DifferenceAdd something natural to the bathroom, like flowers, plants, and stones. For true decadence, throw rose petals into the bath. A variety of natural textures will enhance that spa experience.
Try a Skin ScrubBefore your bath, give your skin a scrub with a natural fiber brush. Rub in circles starting from your furthest points on your limbs, and work your way in avoiding any sensitive areas.
Time for the TubYou're ready to bathe. Light the candles, turn out the lights, get in, and enjoy a spa experience in your own bathroom. When you're done, you'll be glad you warmed those towels ahead of time.
If you just aren't ready to leave the spa yet, leave the music running, and pamper yourself a bit more…give yourself a pedicure, a facial, or anything else you consider a treat. Just remember to blow out those candles!
