This is a typical American-style potato salad with a mayonnaise dressing. I'll show you tips to make this picnic favorite turn out perfect and safe.

Ingredients for Potato Salad

For this recipe, we'll need:
  • 3 pounds potatoes
  • 5 or 6 eggs
  • 1 small red onion
  • 2.3 Stalks Celery
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons mustard
  • salt and pepper to taste

Good Tips for Making Potato Salad

First, Boil the eggs, and put into an ice-water bath.Next chop the vegetables.

Tip 1. Use waxy boiling potatoes such as red-skinned, or yukon Gold. These potatoes will hold their shape, and won't disintegrate into mashed potatoes.Boil the potatoes in salted water for 12-15 minutes, or until fork-tender.

Tip 2. Combining warm ingredients with Mayonnaise is a bad idea. To safely prepare potato salad with a mayonnaise dressing, completely cool any cooked ingredients in the fridge before combining.Chop the eggs. and combine with the cooled potatoes in a large bowl.Add the celery and onion, and toss lightly to combine.Lastly, add the mayonnaise, mustard, and salt, and pepper, and stir until evenly coated.

Tip 3. Make the potato salad a few hours in advance, and chill in the fridge to let the flavors combine.
