Bread puddings are a great family dessert, made for special occasions, or just anytime comfort food. A time honored southern tradition, bread puddings can be made with a huge variety of breads and fruit fillings. It’s a great way to make use of stale bread, pair your favorite breads with any fruit filling that you’d like, or for a decorative topping you can create some fresh baked bread at home. Here’s a simple recipe for a peach bread pudding mad with ready made croissants.
Peach Bread Pudding Ingredients:
- 14 oz. sweetened condensed milk
- 6 oz. torn croissants
- 15 oz. sliced peaches
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 beaten eggs
Mix Bread Pudding Ingredients and Bake
This one’s simple, everything gets mixed together in one bowl, goes straight into the oven. Start with your croissants, tear them up into bite sized pieces, they go in first. Next are the diced peaches, condensed milk, teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and 2 beaten eggs. You shouldn’t have any problems with the fruit sticking to the bottom of the pan, but it’s a good idea to line the bottom with a thin coat of butter.
Everything is mixed together nicely, take your 9 inch by 5 inch baking pan and scoop everything straight in. Even everything out, you’ll want to preheat the over to 350 degrees, 30 to 40 minutes in the over is all you’ll need to bake it all the way through, it’s ready to come out when you start to see the top to get nice an brown. And there you have it. One hour, one bowl, one baking dish, and one peach bread pudding made with ready made croissants. For more information about southern baking, visit About.com
