Hi, I'm Rachel Edelman for About.com Food. Today I'm going to show you how to make spicy glazed nuts.

Spicy Glazed Nuts Ingredients

For this recipe you will need:
  • 1/2cup pecan halves
  • 1/2 cup cashews
  • 1/4 cup almonds
  • 1 cup peanuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons peanut oil

Layer the Nuts

First preheat the oven to 250 degrees. Then pour all of the nuts into a deep, foil-lined baking pan. You can use any combination of nuts. Here I have pecan halves, almonds, cashews and peanuts. This is just under 2 cups of nuts. You can keep the skin on the almonds and peanuts.

Mix the Spices

Next, in a small bowl, combine all of your spices. These are cumin, ground cloves, ground ginger, cayenne pepper, and the sugar and the salt.

Spice and Glaze the Nuts

Now, pour the peanut oil all over the nuts. This will be what the spices stick to. Now, shake over the spices and mix everything all around so the nuts are well coated. Then, spread the nuts evenly across the sheet.

Bake the Nuts

Put them into the oven and bake. Every ten to fifteen minutes take them out and stir. Bake the nuts for about 30 minutes, total. When they are done, the nuts should be a golden color.
Remove them from oven. Place the nuts on paper towels to cool. If you'd like, you can a sprinkle the nuts with extra salt. Place in a bowl at a party or place in a jar to use as a gift.
