Transcript: Premium Steak Sandwich
Hi, I am Heidi Dehncke-Fisher and welcome to About.com Food. Today I am going to make one of my all-time favorite sandwiches, something I like to call the premium steak sandwich.Premium Steak Sandwich Ingredients
To make this steak sandwich, you will need:- 1 pound premium steak
- 1/4 cup horseradish
- 3 tablespoons horseradish sauce
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 pound aged provolone
- 1/4 pound gorgonzola cheese
- 1 large beefsteak tomato
- a pinch paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper
- 1/2 cup arugula
- 1 large loaf Italian bread
- 4-5 cloves garlic
- 3 tablespoons butter
Prepare the Garlic
Begin by chopping your garlic and cooking the garlic in three tablespoons of butter on the stove top. Sautee until bubbly.Drizzle the garlic and butter onto your Italian bread halves, and place these in the oven to bake at 300 for 15-20 minutes, until golden.
Melt the Cheese and Cook the Steak
Melt the gorgonzola cheese and provolone cheese with half of a cup of heavy cream.Sautee your steak in olive oil over medium heat, and season with your spices. And then, slice it thin.
Mix your horseradish and mayonnaise dressing, and add salt and pepper to taste.
Make the Premium Steak Sandwich
Remove the bread from the oven and prepare to build your sandwich. Begin by brushing both sides with the horseradish and mayonnaise mixture. On the bottom side, place the arugula, the steak, the provolone, and the tomato, and place the top half on the sandwich, pressing firmly.
This steak sandwich is delicious for guests at a party or as a picnic lunch and can be prepared in less than 20 minutes.
