Transcript:How to Make Pork and BeansHowdy, I'm Roblé for About.com. Today I'm going to show you how to make pork & beans. Here we go.
Ingredients for Pork and BeansHere are our ingredients:
- 2 white kidney beans
- 1 cup Spanish onions (small dice)
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon red wine vinegar
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 2 strips smoked bacon (cut into small strips)
- vegetable oil
- 1 cup water
Instructions for Making Pork and BeansHere we have a pot over medium heat. Drizzle in 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add in the bacon and give it a good stir. Let it cook over medium heat stirring periodically. What we are doing here is rendering out the fat. It should take about 10 minutes. You will know that it is done when it begins to foam. Once it begins to foam, go ahead and adding your garlic. Stir it around and let it cook for about 30 seconds.
After 30 seconds, add in the smoked paprika and let it cook for another 30 seconds, stirring constantly. Next, add in your onions and stir them around until they are nicely coated with the paprika. Next, add in your brown sugar and stir it in. After that, add in your Worcestershire sauce, red wine vinegar, ketchup, and barbecue sauce. Give it another mix. Wait for it to come back up to a boil and add in your beans and water. Give it another mix. Cover the pot. Reduce the heat down to low and let it cook for one hour.
One hour later and you are ready to go.
