Hi, I am Gretchen Siegchrist for About.com Food, and I am going to show you how to make pecan pie. This is a delicious dessert, and it is actually quite easy to make.

Pecan Pie Ingredients

For this recipe, you will need:
  • a single pie crust
  • 2 cups pecans
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Toast the Pecans

Begin by preheating the oven to 350 degrees. Place the pecans in a large skillet. We will toast them over medium heat for about five minutes, stirring them constantly until they begin to darken.

Remove the pecans from the skillet and let them cool.

Combine the Ingredients

Melt the butter on low heat in the microwave or on the stovetop. In a medium bowl, gently whisk the eggs. Add the corn syrup, brown sugar, butter, flour and vanilla.

Stir these ingredients together and then gently fold in the pecans.

Bake the Pecan Pie

Pour the filling into the pie crust, and put the pie in the oven. Let it bake for about 50 to 60 minutes, until a knife comes out cleanly from the center.

You should let the pie cool before serving.
