Why Make Wilted Spinach Salad?Now I love all kinds of salads, but this is one of my all time favorites. It incorporates warm crunchy flavors and crispy fresh greens all with a tangy dressing.
Ingredients for Wilted Spinach SaladHere are the ingredients you will need:
- 10 to 12 ounces fresh spinach, washed and torn into bit-size pieces
- 1/4 cup minced red onion, thinly sliced
- 2 hard-cooked eggs, 1 chopped, and 1 sliced
- 2 to 4 slices of bacon cooked crisp
- 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoons of bacon drippings
- 1 1/2 tbsp. sugar
- 3 tbsp. of vinegar
- 1 tbsp. of water
- 1/2 tsp. of salt
- 1/8 tsp. of pepper
Creating a Wilted Spinach SaladIn a measuring cup combine the cooled bacon drippings with sugar,vinegar,water,saltand pepper. Refrigerate all ingredients until just before serving. When ready to serve, heat the dressing on HIGH for 30 to 45 seconds in a microwave, or until mixture boils. Place the washed bite size pieces of the fresh spinach in a large salad bowl. Add the chopped eggand red onion Then toss,Pour the hot dressing over the greens mixture; And lightly toss again. Top the spinach with the sliced egg and crumbled bacon. Serve immediately as a main course entré or with your favorite chicken or steak dinner. This recipe serves 6.
