Transcript:How to Make Tilapia With Garlic Butter

Hi, I'm Gary Chisholm with About.com, and today we're cooking tilapia in a garlic butter sauce, using a recipe from About dot com's Southern Food site.

Ingredients for Tilapia With Garlic Butter

For this recipe you'll need:
  • About a pound and a half of tilapia fillets
  • Two tablespoons of butter
  • Two cloves of garlic
  • A dash of pepper, salt and paprika
  • And a pinch of dried parsley

Instructions for Making Tilapia With Garlic Butter

Add the butter, minced garlic, salt, pepper and parsley. Heat on low until the butter melts and starts to simmer. Then remove it from the heat.Heat the oven to three hundred fifty degrees. Line a large, shallow baking pan with aluminum foil. Brush about half of the butter mixture along the foil on the bottom of the pan. Place the tilapia fillets in a single layer on the buttery foil. Brush the top of each filet with the rest of the butter mixture. Bake the tilapia at three hundred fifty degrees for about fifteen minutes. If the fish flakes easily with a fork, it's done.

Now, the soft texture of tilapia really lends itself to milder spices, but this is a versatile dish. You can do paprika, thyme, oregano...I like to add a little bit of dill and squeeze some lemon juice over it, just to give it a bit of extra zest. So don't be afraid to experiment when you're trying this dish out.
