Transcript:How to Make Tangy Braised Cabbage
Hey guys, Greyson Ferguson here with About.com. Today we are going to make tangy braised cabbage.Ingredients for the Tangy Braised Cabbage
To start you need:- 4 tablespoons of butter
- 1 chopped onion
- 1 Granny Smith apple
- 1/2 head of chopped cabbage
- 1/4 teaspoon of pepper
- 3 tablespoons of cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup of apricot preserve
Make the Tangy Braised Cabbage
Heat the butter on low heat in a dutch oven, then add in the onions and apple and saute for about 10 minutes. Granny Smith apples add a sharp sour and tangy flavor to the recipe, but feel free to use a Golden Delicious or any other apple in the recipe.Toss in the rest of the ingredients and mix, then cover with a lid and cook for another two hours on low heat. If you do not like apricots, or are searching for a different flavor, you can essentially use any kind of preserve including blueberry, strawberry or peach.
After two hours the cabbage is going to be tender. Sprinkle on any desired salt and serve. This makes a fresh summertime salad or an excellent side dish.
