Transcript:How to Make Spoon Bread With Corn

Hi, I’m Scott for About.com, today I’m going to show you how to make Spoon Bread With Corn using a recipe from SouthernFood.About.com.

Ingredients for Spoon Bread With Corn

Before you begin, you'll need a few ingredients:

•3 1/2 cups milk

•1 cup yellow cornmeal

•2 teaspoon salt

•1 can of cream-style corn

•2 tablespoons butter

•5 eggs, well beaten

Instructions for Making Spoon Bread With Corn

To get started, fill the bottom of your double boiler with water. Bring the water to a boil. Pour three cups of milk into the top of the double boiler. Now pour the half cup of milk into a medium mixing bowl. Add the cornmeal. Now sprinkle in the salt. Stir this mixture together. Combine the milk and corneal with the warm milk. stir this mixture until it thickens. Now go ahead and cover the mixture and cook for another 5 minutes. Add the corn. Stir well. Add the butter.

Continue to stir until it is fully melted. Now add the eggs. Blend well. Grease a casserole dish. Transfer the cornmeal mixture into the casserole dish. Bake for 1 hour at 375°. When finished, the texture will be firm and the top will have a golden brown color. Keep in mind, the bread will sink slightly when you remove it form the oven. Serve while still warm. This recipe makes 6 servings.
