To Make Spiced Apple Crisp, You Will Need:
- 1 1/2 cups of brown sugar,
- 1 cup of flour,
- 3/4 cup butter (1 1/2 sticks),
- 6 to 8 cooking apples,
- 1/4 of a tsp cinnamon,
- 1/4 of a tsp of nutmeg,
- the grated rind of one lemon,
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice.
Bake the Spiced Apple Crisp for About an HourTo begin, preheat your oven to 375°. Combine sugar, flour and butter in a mixing bowl. Mix well with your fingers. set aside. Quarter, core, and peel the apples. Cut apple quarters into thin slices and place the slices in a bowl. Blend the cinnamon and nutmeg. Sprinkle over apples. Now grate the lemon rind, sprinkle it over the mixture. 1 medium lemon equals approximately 1 tablespoon of lemon zest and 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. Use your palm to roll the lemon a few times before cutting and squeezing. Add the lemon juice and toss to blend.
Arrange slices in a baking dish (2 to 3 inches in depth). Cover with the butter and brown sugar mixture, smoothe it over. Place the dish in the oven. If the dish is very full, put a pan under the dish to catch spills. Bake at 375° for 55 to 65 minutes.
That's how you make a spice apple crisp. I hope you enjoy.
