Hi, I'm Mandy Day for About.com, and today, we're talking about how to make saucepan brownies.

Easy Saucepan Brownie Ingredients

For this recipe, you'll need:
  • 6 Tbsp butter
  • 2 oz Unsweetened chocolate
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 Cup granulated sugar
  • 2 Lg. eggs
  • 3/4 Cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 Cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Make Chocolate Sauce for Easy Saucepan Brownies

You'll also need an average saucepan for mixing the ingredients, as well as an 8-inch square baking pan. To prep the baking pan for cooking, add grease (or cooking spray if you'd prefer) and sprinkle flour along the bottom. Once you have your ingredients together, mixing them in the right order is key. First, place the saucepan on your stove on low heat, then add the chocolate and butter to melt them together. Make sure you stir constantly while they melt, so that your chocolate doesn't burn. After your sauce is fully melted, remove the pan from heat.

Finish Baking Easy Saucepan Brownies

Add your vanilla and sugar to sweeten the mix. Next, whisk the eggs into the chocolate sauce one at a time, to make sure the sauce stays nice and even. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, salt and baking soda together, then add to the sauce and mix. Once fully mixed, place the brownie batter in your square baking pan, making sure to keep it even and smoothing out any air bubbles. Set your oven to 325 degrees. Bake for about 25 minutes, or when done to your liking, then remove and cool.
