Hey guys, Greyson Ferguson here with About.com. Today we are going to make a mushroom-stuffed burger.Ingredients for the Mushroom-Stuffed Burgers
To start, you need:- 1-1/2 cups of onions
- 8 ounces of sliced mushrooms
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 2 tablespoons of parsley
- 2-1/2 pounds of ground beef
- 1/3 cup of Worcestershire sauce
- 4 chopped garlic cloves
- salt and pepper
- hamburger buns
- any cheese and toppings you desire
Prepare the Mushrooms for the Mushroom-Stuffed Burgers
Saute the onions and mushrooms with the olive oil until all of the water has evaporated out of the mushrooms. This should take about 20 minutes, then add in the parsley.Combine the rest of the ingredients into a separate bowl. You can also use ground turkey in this recipe to cut out some of the fat and calorie content of ground beef. You can also use any seasoning available you may like in the burger, including onion powder or chili flakes.
Add in the onions and mushrooms and mix evenly. If there are too many mushrooms congregating together the meat is not going to stick.
Cook the Mushroom-Stuffed Burgers
Form the mixture into even balls, then set either on a medium heat skillet or grill. Flip the meat every few minutes until the patties are brown. To make sure the meat is finished check the internal temperature and make sure it is between 140 and 160 degrees.Serve the stuffed burger with your favorite toppings and enjoy.
