Transcript:How to Make Ham With a Soda and Maple Glaze
This tasty ham glaze is made with the delicious sweet taste of cola and maple syrup and perfect for a holiday ham. A big baked ham is one of the easiest things to prepare for a holiday celebration. The ham is already cooked, all you have to do is heat it to a serving temperature and if you want, apply a nice glaze.
Ham with Soda Maple Glaze Ingredients:
- 1 fully cooked ham, about 3 to 4 pounds
- whole cloves
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup cola
- 1 tablespoon brown or Dijon mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Preheat oven at 325°. Cut the ham in diamonds shape. Place cloves in any intersected lines .Place baking sheet over a cooking pan and add ham over. Using the rule of 18 minutes per pound, cook at 325° until meat thermometer is about 148°. If you had a ham which is labeled Ready to Cook, follow packaging directions.
Mix the Ham Glaze
Meanwhile cooking combine maple syrup, brown sugar, cola, mustard, ginger, and cinnamon in saucepan. Bring to a simmer at medium-high heat will not take long so stay close to the pan and continue cooking over low heat for about 2 minutes after starts to simmer.
Glaze Ham Before Cooking is Complete
Take a look at the ham in the oven and when about 20 minutes before the ham is done, spoon about half of the glaze over top of ham, then about 10 minutes before done, spread remaining glaze over ham. Thank you for visiting About.com
