Transcript:How to Make Easy Baked Ziti

Hi there, I'm Abby Feldman with Are you looking for a delicious, cheesy, and easy dish to serve for dinner? Look no further than baked ziti! Though some ziti dishes can be tricky and require many ingredients, this has few and tastes sensational! It's easy, fast, and will have your family asking for more. Let's begin. This ziti dish is simple, with just a few cheeses, pasta, and seasoning.

Baked Ziti Ingredients

You'll need:

  • 9" by 13" baking pan
  • 1 box of ziti or rigatoni noodles
  • 1 can of traditional tomato sauce (you can always make your own, too, if you prefer!)
  • 1 16 ounce container of ricotta cheese
  • 2 tablespoons of seasoned salt
  • 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh or dried basil

Preparing Ziti for Baking

First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees. To cook the ziti, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the box of ziti and cook the pasta for a little bit less than it says on the package. The pasta should be slightly undercooked. When you're all done, drain the water out of the pot. Next, lightly grease your baking dish with olive oil or butter so the noodles don't stick. Spoon the ziti and ricotta cheese into the pan. Add the mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce and stir until combined. Then, season with salt. Sprinkle mozzarella over the top to finish. It will give the ziti a golden, cheesy topping when it comes out of the oven.

Bake Your Ziti

Put the pan in the pre-heated oven and bake for 45 minutes, or until the edges become crispy and the cheeses have melted. Be sure not to over-bake the dish, as you don't want the top layer to be burnt or the noodles to be dry and hard. When it comes out of the oven, sprinkle the parmesan on top. You're going to want to let the ziti cool for about 5 minutes. To give your baked ziti extra spice and flavor, you can season it with salt, pepper, and even red pepper flakes. Now it's time to serve this scrumptious dish!

Time to Serve Your Baked Ziti

You can use a serving spoon or pie server to cut the pieces. Basil, whether fresh or dried, is a great garnish for this dish that will give it a burst of fresh flavor. Baked ziti goes perfectly with a fresh salad, a crusty baguette, and a nice glass of red wine. This recipe is great for picnics, potlucks, or a family dinner.
