Hi, I'm Matt Ediger for and this is how to make broccoli pudding. This classic dish can be served at holiday gatherings or as a regular everyday side to dinner.

Ingredients for Making Broccoli Pudding

For this recipe you will need the following:
  • 10-12 oz frozen chopped broccoli thawed and drained
  • 2 tbls Butter
  • 2 tbls finely minced onion
  • 2 tbls all purpose flour
  • pinch or dash of pepper
  • 1/8th tsp nutmeg
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 ½ cup half and half
  • 1 ½ cup shredded sharp cheddar
  • 3 large eggs beaten

Instructions for Making Broccoli Pudding

Heat your oven to 350 degrees and grease a 2 ½ quart casserole dish. Dump in your thawed and drained broccoli and set aside. In a large skillet melt the butter, then add in the onions. Sauté on medium heat for 2-3 minutes or until the onions have become tender. Stir in the flour until well blended or about a minute. With the flour incorporated add in the salt, nutmeg, pepper, and half and half. Reduce the heat to low and cook until the mixture begins to thicken up. Now you can add in the cheese and cook until the cheese is completely melted. Take your beaten egg mixture and add about a 1/3rd of your butter, onion, spice mixture to the eggs stir to combine then add this to the rest of the skillet. Blend well. Then, pour everything over the broccoli. Place in your preheated oven for 35-45 minutes, or until a knife inserted come out clean, like so.
