Transcript:How to Make Banana Nut Bread

Hi I'm Peter Braun for About.com and this is how to bake Banana Nut Bread. This is a relatively simple but delicious recipe that will make two loaves.

Ingredients for Banana Nut Bread

Here are the ingredients you'll need:
  • 1 cup, two sticks butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 6 large, very ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans

Instructions for Making Banana Nut Bread

Before you begin mixing, preheat your oven to 325 degrees.First, cream together the butter and the sugar, make sure you do this thoroughly. Then, one at a time, add the eggs. Use a spatula to clean the sides of the bowl and beat the mixture after each additional egg. Sift dry ingredients together and then add to the creamed mixture. Stir in bananas and chopped pecans just until they are mixed into the batter. Now grease your loaf pan I prefer to use crisco. This will prevent the loaf front sticking to the pan when you’re ready to remove it. Now carefully pour the batter into the greased loaf pan and place into the center of the hot oven. Bake for about and hour and 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean. Let cool for at least 15 minutes before removing the loaf. Gently run a knife around the outside of the loaf to help loosen it from the pan and place a plate on top of it and invert it. If you greased the pan sufficiently, the loaf should fall right out.
