Transcript:How to Make Bacon Puffs

Hi, I'm Chef William Richards for Here's a quick and easy appetizer that just can't miss. They're bacon puffs!

Ingredients for the Bacon Puffs

The ingredients for this Bacon Puff recipe come from's Southern Food site. Here's what you'll need:

  • 12 slices bacon, about 8 ounces
  • 8 slices of bread -- we're using pumpernickel (use any of your favorites including white, rye or wheat)
  • 2 cups of shredded Cheddar cheese -- Monterey jack works great too
  • Wooden toothpicks

Make the Bacon Puffs

Lay each slice of bacon on a cookie sheet a couple inches a part. Remove the crust from your bread with a sharp knife. Then cut across the width of the bread and place the 2 pieces end to end on top of the raw bacon. Sprinkle about 3 tablespoons of cheese on top of the bread. Roll the combination into a ball and use a wooden toothpick to hold everything together.

Bake the Bacon Puffs

Place the bacon puff on its side and bake for 20 minutes in a 400-degree oven. The bacon should be hot and crispy. Enjoy.
