Transcript:How to Make Apple Crumble Pie

Hi, I'm Aubrey with About.com and today we're going to make an apple crumble pie.

To Make Apple Crumble Pie, You Will Need:

  • 1 nine-inch unbaked pie shell
  • 6 cups of peeled apple slices
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4  teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt.

For The Pie Topping, You Need:

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar,
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour,
  • 2 tablespoons of butter,
  • 1/2 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts

Bake the Pie Until Apples Are Tender and The Topping is Browned

To begin, preheat your oven to 375°. Fill pie shell with apple slices. In a separate bowl, combine the granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt; mix thoroughly with your fingers. Sprinkle over the apples. In another bowl, combine the topping ingredients: the flour, brown sugar, butter, and nuts. Stir thoroughly with your fingers until the mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle over top of pie. Bake at 400° for 45 to 50 minutes, until apples are tender and topping is browned.
