Hi, I'm Matt Ediger for About.com and this is how to make delicious sweet potatoes.

Instructions for How to Bake Sweet Potatoes

This super simple recipe is as follows:

• Take your sweet potatoes and scrub them to remove any dirt, as they do come from the ground, next brush them with a little vegetable oil and place them directly on your oven rack preferably the upper.
• Let them bake at 450 for about 35-45 minutes depending on their size. After baking remove them at once.
• Pierce them with a fork to let out the steam. Be careful not to get burned during the process.
• Next cut a 1-½ inch cross in the center. Now with potholders, press the potato up until it’s delicious innards spew forth.

What to Do After You Bake Sweet Potatoes
