Hello, my name is Mike Scipione and welcome to About.com. Today I'm going to show you how to make a barbecue crock pot pulled pork.
Crock Pot BBQ Pulled Pork Ingredients
The ingredients you're going to need are:
- 2-3 lbs. of pork loin
- 1/2 of a vidalia onion
- 4 c. of your favorite barbecue sauce
- 1 c. of water
- 1/2 tsp. of salt
- 1/4 tsp. of black pepper
For this recipe, the utensils you're going to need are:
- A crock pot
- A knife
- A cutting board
- 2 forks
We'll begin this recipe by slicing up half of a vidalia onion. Place that in the crock pot; add to that 4 cups of barbecue sauce, 1 c. of water, then add your salt and your pepper.
For a speedier cook time I'm going to chop up the pork loin into cubes and then place into the barbecue mixture. After handling any type of raw meat you want to be sure to wash your hands.
Cooking the BBQ Pulled Pork
You can cook this recipe on high for 4-6 hours or on low for 8-10 hours. One safety tip when cooking with a crock pot is fire safety. You want to be sure to not place the item on any paper towels, regular towel or anything flammable and be sure it's in a clean safe area.
Once the cooking time is up, you're going to remove the pork from the crock pot, place in a large dish and press down and shred with 2 forks. Once the pork is pulled apart you would place back in the crock pot and stir within the barbecue sauce for an even coating. Now all you need to do is serve hot and enjoy.
