Transcript:Cheddar Cheese SticksHi, I'm Rachel Edelman for About.com Food. Today I'm going to show you how to make cheddar cheese sticks.
Cheddar Cheese Sticks IngredientsFor this recipe you will need:
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 4 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 3 tablespoons sour cream
Prepare the DoughFirst combine the flour, salt, pepper, and baking powder. Next, use a pastry blender to cut in the butter.
Then cut in the cheese. Now stir in the sour cream, and mix it all well.
Shape the dough into a ball, cover with a paper towel, and put it into the refrigerator for one hour.
Cut the Dough Into StripsPreheat the oven to 425 degrees. Lightly flour a rolling surface and pin.
Knead the dough a little, and then roll it out so it's 1/8 inch thick. Try to get it nice and thin for a crispy stick.
Next, use a pizza cutter or knife to cut the dough into thin strips about 1/4-inch wide and 3 inches long.
Bake the Cheese SticksPlace them on a greased cookie sheet. To give them shape, you can give the sticks a little twist as you put them on the sheet.
Bake the sticks for 8 minutes. Let the sticks cool on a wire rack before serving and enjoy!
