Hi I am Rachel Edelman for About.com Food. Today I am going to show you how to make homemade apple juice.Apple Juice Ingredients
For this recipe you will need 8 apples, 1/8 c. cream of tartar, 1 c. sugar, 2 1/2 quarts of water in a large potWash and Quarter Apples
First wash each apple. Then cut each apple into quarters and then into smaller pieces. Place apples in a large bowl.Boil Water and Add Tartar
Place a large pot with water on the stove over high heat. Once the water is boiling, add the cream of tartar. Now remove the pot from the heat.Add Apples
Next, add the apples to the water. Place the pot aside and let it stand for 24 hours.Run Juice Through a Strainer
Now, place a strainer in a large bowl. Pour the apple juice, so the apples are caught in the strainer and the juice falls in the bowl.Reheat Juice and Add Sugar
Place the juice back into the pot and place on the stove. Heat the juice over medium high heat until the juice boils. Then, pour in the sugar and stir. Once the sugar dissolves, remove it from the heat. After it cools, pour into a pitcher or jar.
Add Food Coloring
If you'd like, you can add some food coloring to change the look of the juice. Enjoy hot or cold. Thanks for watching. For more information, please visit us at Food.About.com.
