Transcript:5 Quick and Easy Hash Brown Recipes

Hi, my name is John Ondo. I am the executive chef at Lana Restaurant & Bar in Charleston, SC. Today we are going to show you how to make hash browns, and once you've mastered this one basic simple way to do it, it's yours to go with from there.

Ingredients for the Quick and Easy Hash Browns

So what we are going to need:
  • shredded potatoes
  • minced onions
  • milk
  • butter
  • a little salt
  • a little pepper

Make the Quick and Easy Hash Browns

So you want to add your potatoes into a big mixing bowl, your milk, your minced onions, a little salt, a little bit of black pepper, and we are going to mix this around. We are going to take our 3 tablespoons of butter.

Once your butter is good and brown you're going to add your potatoes. You want to turn your heat down to low and gently cook. You want them to get good golden on the bottom, premium soft on top.You want them to be heated all the way through and if you add anything, put them in your broiler in the oven just to crisp the cheese that you have on top.

Quick and Easy Variations for Hash Browns

I like this with a little bit of tomato, bacon, and I love cheddar cheese. Somebody fry me an egg; I am hungry. This one is going to be mushrooms and some blue cheese. This one is going to be smoked salmon. We are going to add a little diced butter and some dill.

My name is John Ondo. I hope you enjoy it.
