Transcript: See a Chemical Peel

Hi, I'm Enrique Ramirez from Face to Face NYC Day Spa for About.com. Today I'm going to show you the skin care process of a chemical peel.

What is a Chemical Peel?

This process is a safe non surgical cosmetic treatment which will help to remove the top layer of her skin, leaving her with youthful, taught, rejuvenated skin.

The Chemical Peel Process

The actual product that we’re going to use in here today was created by Doctor Fulton, co-creator of Retin A. His product comes in four steps. They all consist of natural and synthetic ingredients. So, we're going to begin the process now. Again, I am going to start with step 1, and then step 2 and step 3 and step 4. It's important that we treat the neck and face. A lot of times in many spa treatments the neck goes unnoticed. So, with this treatment its important, since these 2 areas are well exposed to the sun, it's important that we get them treated as well.

Chemical Peels and Skin Types

Okay, now I'm going to go with step two. Again, this chemical peal is safe for any skin type, simply because of the actual combination of the chemicals in it. So, its good for any rosacia, eczema, anybody can basically get this treatment done.

Skin Layer Removal During a Chemical Peel

And now we move to step number three. During each step we do about three to four layers of the actual step. As you can see I am trying to cover every corner of her face. A lot of people tend to get sun damage in different parts, mostly the forehead.

Now, I am going to finish up with step number four. Step number four has vitamin A which is another form of Retin A.

After a Chemical Peel

Once at home, some of the things that a client will experience, will feel some tautness -that'll be for the first 24 hours after that they can experience some shedding. Some of their skin will actually peel off. All of this happens within the first two to three days.

Chemical Peel Aftercare

And then I am going to ask you not to wash your face for about three hours and then at that point you can continue with your skin care regimen at home.

Now again, you have a little bit of a yellowish hue because of the vitamin A which is completely normal. How does your skin feel? It already has a beautiful glow to it.
