Hi, I'm Dr. Debra Jaliman, a board certified dermatologist in New York City and author of the book Skin Rules: Trade Secrets from a Top New York Dermatologist here to talk about skin brightening masks.

Skin Brightening Mask with Honey

What you can do is you can take a teaspoon of honey, take a teaspoon of fresh squeezed lemon, and you want to mix them together. And, the lemon has ascorbic acid, vitamin C, and the acid helps brighten the skin. You put it on your skin. You leave it on for fifteen minutes. Just be careful. You don't want to get the lemon juice too close to your eyes because it could burn. And then make certain to wash very well. Wash it off with a warm washcloth.

Alternative Skin Brightening Mask

You don't want to leave any residue of the lemon juice on your skin because it can burn. And gradually, over time, it will start to lighten your skin. There are other skin brightening masks that you can also make. For example, you can take two teaspoons of gram flour, and gram flour is actually ground chickpeas. It's not made out of regular flour. You could put a pinch of turmeric, a teaspoon of lemon juice and leave that on for twenty minutes, and that's another way to brighten your skin as well.

So, you have a few options.Thank you for watching. For more information, please visit About.com.
