Hi I'm Nick Jaynes for About.com and this is how to care for skate shoes.Information About Skater Shoes
Skate shoes wear out easily due to the extreme nature of their use. But there are some ways to extend the life of your skate shoes and salvage old ones. There are several key areas that are susceptible to premature wear: the bottom, the toecap area, and the top.How to Keep Skater Shoes in Good Repair
Skating a bowl can cause excessive wear due to frequent foot movement and adjustment as the soles of the skate shoes grind against the rough grip tape. Unfortunately there are no preventative measures for premature sole wear.Secondly, doing any toe-flick trick will cause wear on the toecap area of the shoe. Skaters have found using a product called Shoe Goo can patch holes and extend the usable life of their shoes.Lastly, skating vert with frequent knee sliding at high speed can cause the tops of the shoes to literally melt. Some people have found that covering the tops of their shoes and laces in duct tape can extend the life of the shoes. It’s important to remember, these fixes aren't permanent but simply work to extend the life of your skate shoes. Eventually you will have to show them away.
