Transcript:How to Do a Heel Flip
Hey! This is Andy Bearer. I ride for and I am co-creator of RIPE Skateboarding and today we are going to talk about heelflips, and before you go out and try any heelflips, make sure you have got your proper safety equipment.First Step for a Heel Flip
So when we start off with the heel flip, foot positioning, the front foot is really the main factor in the heelflip. Personally, I like to put my toes, my front foot, with my toes dangling just off the edge of the board, gives me the right position that I like to use my heel to flick and give that little flick that it takes to flip this one around.Second Step for a Heel Flip
So once you have got your feet positioned with the toes hanging off of like maybe just about the ball of my foot, right on the edge of the board. Once you go into the trick, you go into your crouch, you get ready for the trick.Third Step for a Heel Flip
Once you pop to give this one its flick, you are going to obviously pop off the back of the board first and then the front foot, which is all the motion in this trick, you are just going to give a gentle brush of the heel off of the inward side of your board, the front side of your board. So for me, I am regular, it's going to be this side. Give your heel just a slight brush off that top right-hand side of your board.Tips for Completing a Heel Flip
A lot of people want to try and give a very real powerful kick out with their heel and a lot of times I find if I try to put -- the more power I put into this one, the less I really get it to do what I want.Usually what I find is the ones that end up turning out the nicest are the ones where I give just a real nice gentle brush of the heel to that side of the board, because it really doesn't take much to get that flicking motion going.
You are just going to want to wait for it to spin around and spot that grip tape again, wait till the grip tape comes back around and spot that landing. Put your feet back on. Come down as evenly as possible, crouch those knees, and ride away clean. And that's how you do a heelflip.
